Shower commodes are used in shower stalls for people who can not stand up to bathe or shower and are a combination of a transport chair and a commode. While there are various designs and features, they all have wheels and can be used to transport the user into the shower stall as well as providing a safe and comfortable seating system for the shower.

Shower commodes have cut outs in the seat for hygiene while bathing and come with a bucket or pail of some type so they can double as a commode if needed.

Usually shower commodes are fairly basic pieces of equipment but the higher end models, known of rehab shower commodes, provide features and options that are not available on the lower priced models and provide a more customized seating platform for the user.
