Vertical Lift Chair Information

Vertical lift chairs are a pretty rare model type among the various lift chair manufacturers and I've been told that they are only readily available in Australia and Canada. While there appears to be several Australian companies selling these models, most seem to be the same cahir as those sold in Canada. Below are the models I'm aware of in Canada.

Earth and Mars Lift Chairs from EZee Life

The Earth and Mars models are essentially the same chairs with the same specifications but they have a mildly different appearance; especially in the bakcrests. Both are available in either a charcoal grey or Charcoal Grey & Blue.

How Vertical Lift Chairs Work

Conventional lift chairs work by lifting up and tilting forward so the user can stand in front of the chair, lean back into it and gently be lowered to a seated position. From there they can recline to a position that they are happy with and can adjust as needed. Reversing this process will lift the person to a standing position lifting and tilting forward again.

Vertical Lift Chairs work the same way but also offer the option to lift and lower vertically. They can be lifted in the upright position or the reclined position or somewhere in between and allow user to be trensferred on and off the chair sideways to either a wheelchair, a commode or a bed. Where this would be difficult or impossible with most chairs because the arms would prevent a side transfer these chairs are designed with removeable arm and sidewings to remove any impediment to side transferring.

Because these chairs are particularily suited for institutional use and users with more complex medical conditions, the Mars and Earth models also have incontinent proof upholstery that can easily be cleaned and the foam in the seat and back have some protection from moisture.
